Hochul Convenes Special Legislative Session

Governor Kathy Hochul called state lawmakers back to Albany on Wednesday for a special session to address a handful of time-sensitive issues.

Governor Andrew Cuomo resigned from office on Tuesday (8/10), one week after the Attorney General released her report finding that Governor Cuomo had sexually harassed 11 women and retaliated against at least one of his accusers.  According to his announcement, his resignation will be effective in 14 days.

Delta Variant and New Immunization Mandates

This week, Governor Cuomo held a press conference confirming that the Delta variant is present in New York and has been found in 72.2% of new positive cases across NY. The State confirmed 1,982 new cases Saturday – up nearly fourfold from 506 confirmed July 1 – and another 1,296 confirmed cases on Sunday.

Eric Adams Wins Democratic Primary for Mayor of NYC

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams is the winner of the Democratic Primary for NYC Mayor after preliminary results were released from the Board of Elections, showing Adams at the top with a small, but significant lead.  Adams defeated a large field of Democratic candidates, including former NYC sanitation commissioner Kathryn Garcia and former City Hall legal advisor, Maya Wiley.

NYS Capitol Building Reopens!

Governor Cuomo today announced that with 70 percent of New Yorkers aged 18 or older having received the first dose of their COVID-19 vaccination series, the Empire State Plaza Complex, which includes the New York State Capitol and the Legislative Office Building, will reopen to the public on June 18.

NYS Adopts CDC’s Guidance for Those Fully Vaccinated

Beginning on May 19th, New York will adopt the CDC’s “Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People” for most businesses and public settings, with some exceptions.
