New York State COVID-19 Update:
June 18, 2020


As of June 18th, New York has just over 380k positive COVID-19 cases, and an additional 29 deaths yesterday. Hospitalizations and new daily cases continue to be at record lows.

June 17, 2020


As of June 17th, New York has over 380k positive COVID cases and an additional 17 deaths. During today’s press briefing, Governor Cuomo announced that he will sign an Executive Order recognizing Juneteenth (6/19) as a holiday for state employees. He will also advance legislation to make it an official state holiday next year.

As of June 16th, New York has over 380k positive COVID cases and an additional 25 deaths. As of today, hospitals statewide may now accept visitors at their discretion, while following strict state guidelines.

As of June 15th, New York has over 380,000 COVID cases with an additional 69 deaths over the weekend. Governor Cuomo said that the state as a whole is on the right track for reopening, and it is our cohesive efforts that are flattening the curve.

As of June 11th, New York has about 380k positive COVID cases and an additional 36 deaths. Governor Cuomo reiterated the shift of data analysis focus from hospitalization and intubation rates to daily testing figures.

New York State COVID-19 Update:
June 10, 2020


As of June 10th, New York has nearly 380k positive COVID cases. Governor Cuomo says that the data analysis will shift focus to daily test results – as those results show the direct impact of reopening on the spread of COVID. Once again, Governor Cuomo spoke of his support and willingness to sign police reform legislation that the Senate and Assembly have been passionately passing this week. Among these bills include the repeal of Civil Rights law 50-A, banning chokeholds, and appointing an Attorney General special prosecutor.

As of June 9th, New York has about 380k positive COVID cases. Hospitalizations, intubations, and ICU admission rates continue to decline. Governor Cuomo shifted focus to his “Say the Name” criminal justice agenda, and to a proposed national Justice agenda which aims to address the current inequities in education, child poverty, affordable housing, and the criminal justice system.

New York State COVID-19 Update:
June 08, 2020


Today, June 8th, is both the 100th day of the pandemic, the 15th day of civil unrest after the death of George Floyd, and day 1 of reopening for NYC. New York has about 380,000 positive COVID cases. COVID-related deaths continue to decline; a total of 80 over the weekend.  Governor Cuomo says that as NY continues its decline, the rest of the country is experiencing spikes in COVID cases, likely due to hasty/unorganized reopening.

New York State COVID-19 Update:
June 04, 2020


As of June 4th, New York has approximately 375,000 positive COVID cases with an additional 52 deaths. Governor Cuomo credits NY’s high capacity testing efforts for the State’s ability to quickly access data. The Governor made his case for a cautious reopening by citing examples of states like North Carolina, Texas, and California that he believes reopened too quickly and experienced a spike in COVID cases.

As of June 3rd, New York has over 370k positive COVID cases and an additional 49 deaths – a record low; hospitalizations are also at a record low. Governor Cuomo pointed out that today marks 95 days since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Day 10 of civil unrest after the death of George Floyd.
