New York State COVID-19 Update:
June 02, 2020


As of June 2nd, New York has over 370,000 positive COVID cases, with an additional 58 deaths. Hospitalizations, new cases, and intubation rates are on the decline. Governor Cuomo said he optimistic and pleased with the progress that NY is making in regards to mitigating the spread of COVID, and, while he is also outraged by the killing of George Floyd, he is concerned about the potential spread of COVID through contact at protests and urges caution and use of PPE.

As of June 1st, New York has over 370,000k positive COVID cases. Deaths have continued downward with a Statewide total of 123 over the weekend. Hospitalizations and incubation rates continue to drop.

New York State COVID-19 Update:
May 29, 2020


As of May 29th, New York has over 360K positive COVID cases and an additional 67 deaths in the last 24 hours. Governor Cuomo delivered his daily press briefing from New Rochelle, which was NY’s first COVID “hotspot.” Governor Cuomo was joined virtually by NYC Mayor De Blasio and together announced that NYC is on track to reopen in about two weeks.

May 28, 2020


As of May 28th, New York has over 360k positive COVID cases and an additional 74 deaths in the last 24 hours. During his briefing, Governor Cuomo announced that he will sign a new Executive Order authorizing businesses to deny entry to those who do not wear face masks or face coverings. Governor Cuomo was joined by comedian Chris Rock and actress Rosie Perez, both NY natives, as they announced their upcoming ad campaign that will communicate the importance of getting tested and wearing PPE to curb the spread of the disease.

May 27, 2020


As of May 27th, New York has over 360,000 positive COVID cases, with an additional 74 deaths in the last 24 hours. Hospitalizations, intubations, new cases, and deaths are overall down. Today, Governor Cuomo was in Washington D.C. to speak with President Trump about federal approval for numerous infrastructure projects, such as the creation of new tunnels for Amtrak to access the Northeast.

May 26, 2020


As of May 26th, New York has over 360k positive COVID cases and an additional 73 related deaths in the last 24 hours. Governor Cuomo will travel to Washington D.C. tomorrow to meet with President Trump to discuss ways to jumpstart the economy and create jobs. New York State COVID-19 Update:
May 22, 2020


As of May 22nd, New York has over 350,000 positive COVID cases and an additional 109 related deaths. This week, Governor Cuomo relaxed some guidelines which allows NYS beaches to open and permits small social gatherings to take place in light of Memorial Day weekend. However, the Governor reiterated the importance of adhering to social distancing measures to reduce the risk of infection spread due to increased activity.

May 21, 2020


As of May 21st, New York has over 350,000 positive COVID cases and an additional 105 deaths. Today, Governor Cuomo gave his daily briefing from NYC, where he reiterated his point that increased activity will lead to increased cases, if precautions are not taken. The Governor urged New Yorkers to think about their roles and responsibilities in mitigating the crisis. NY has implemented a Coronavirus Hotline for employees to report employers who are not following proper reopening procedures.

As of 5/20, New York has over 350,000 positive COVID cases and an additional 112 deaths. Once again, hospitalizations, ICU admissions, and intubation rates are down. Today, the Capital Region begins Phase I of the NYS’s reopening plan.

New York State COVID-19 Update:
May 19, 2020


As of May 19th, New York has over 352,000 positive COVID cases and an additional 117 deaths; the NY COVID death toll has climbed above 22,000. New hospitalizations, ICU admissions, and intubations continue to slowly decline. Governor Cuomo again advocated for his proposed American’s First Law which will prevent corporations from getting federal assistance if they do not re-hire the same number of workers that they had laid off due to COVID. Governor Cuomo and Governor Hogan, on behalf of the NGA, are calling upon the Federal government to pass a $500B package to provide state fiscal relief.
