Ms. Hodes founded Hodes Associates in 1992 after a distinguished 20 year career in New York State government. As Executive Deputy Director of the Governor’s Office of Employee Relations under Mario Cuomo, she developed the State’s collective bargaining strategy, successfully negotiated contracts with public employee unions, and managed a budget of $6.5 million. Now, at Hodes & Landy, she continues to provide high-quality representation, strategy development and political analysis for clients while managing further expansion of the firm. She also serves as a Co-Director for a major statewide association. In the community, her leadership as board chair of the Albany Institute of History and Art (AIHA) helped to transform one of the oldest museums in the country to a new museum poised to serve the region well into the future. In addition to the board of AIHA, she served on Re-Capitalize Albany, an economic development strategy group established by former Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings, and the board of advisors for the American Cancer Society. She was a 2002 winner of the prestigious Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce Woman of Excellence Award. Ms. Hodes graduated from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations, as well as the Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

Since 2000, Ms. Lynch Landy has overseen a variety of areas for Hodes & Landy, including client representation, strategy development, legislative and regulatory analysis and advocacy, political consultation, business development, and firm operations. Ms. Lynch Landy leads the firm’s health care licensure consulting practice and is the Co-Director of a major statewide association.

She was appointed by Governor Paterson as a member of the Task Force for Adult Care Facilities and Assisted Living Residences, and continues to serve on a number of Department of Health Work Groups related to senior living. Throughout her career, she has leveraged her strong advocacy skills, strategic thinking and professional public sector experience to work effectively with elected officials to advance policy and produce results.

On the staff of a senior State Senator, she focused on public policy research and analysis, legislation, and constituent relations. As Special Assistant to the Mayor of Mount Vernon, she managed relations with every constituency, from federal offices to members of the press. She also made her mark at the Maxwell School for Citizenship and Public Affairs of Syracuse University, where she managed training programs, federal grants, and international delegations.

A graduate of the State University of New York at Oneonta, she has completed graduate coursework at the Maxwell School and the City University of New York. She is actively involved in the Rotary Club of Delmar as a past president and Chair of the Youth Exchange Program. She is also a board member of the Colonial Acres Homeowners Association.

In her current role, Ms. O’Connor manages all research conducted at Hodes & Landy, engages in detailed analysis of legislation and regulations, monitors the media for client-related topics, and provides clients with updates on developments in their areas of interest. Ms. O’Connor also specializes in health care, long term care and association advocacy and management. She assists health care providers and developers with the state licensure certification and application approval process. A graduate of St. Bonaventure University, she has served as adjunct professor of English with the University at Albany, from which she earned her master’s degree.

Mary Cooley,
Legislative Associate

In her role as Legislative Associate, Ms. Cooley assists in all facets of client representation and strategy development, including providing research and analysis on policy development, legislation, regulations, and New York State and City politics. Her extensive on-the-ground experience with the New York State legislature and New York City government, includes serving most recently as an external Government Affairs Consultant, a city agency Assistant Commissioner for Legislative Affairs, a State Legislative District Director and Chief of Staff to several State legislators. In both the private and public sectors, Ms. Cooley has professionally represented clients and elected officials and advanced their agendas with effective stakeholder engagement and successful advocacy campaigns that produce results. Her professional portfolio also includes organizing and managing political campaigns. She is a graduate of New York University with a BA in history.

As Director of Communications, Member Services and Operations, Ms. Granger is responsible for Argentum NY communications, client outreach, events and membership. She manages the association’s lobbying day, education and training programs, implements communication strategies and maintains web and social media platforms. Prior to joining Hodes & Landy, Ms. Granger held positions as Vice President of Communications & Marketing at the Capital Region Chamber and Senior Manager/Communications Director at Association Development Group. She is an honors graduate of Potsdam College of SUNY with a BA in English and Communications.

Office Administrator / Executive Assistant

As Office Administrator / Executive Assistant, Ms. Massad is responsible for the firm’s administrative and business operations. She acts as assistant to Principal to support the firm’s mission and clients’ goals. She also supports legislative associates and analysts with calendar management, meeting planning and special projects. Prior to joining Hodes & Landy, Ms. Massad worked as an Office Manager for Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C. where she managed the day to day operations of the Government Relations office.

Christian Rojas,
Receptionist

As receptionist, Mr. Rojas is responsible for streamlining office communication.  He manages all telephone communications and maintains the business contacts database.  Mr. Rojas is also responsible for maintaining staff calendars and making travel arrangements.  He assists with client meetings and material preparation.  He also maintains the office paper and electronic filing systems.  Prior to joining Hodes & Landy, Mr. Rojas worked as an administrative assistant for MISN, Maternal Infant Services Network, where he managed appointments for the navigator program through the NYS Marketplace and assisted with the community health advocate program.
